The Restore your Shore program is the result of many dedicated and knowledgable people working together to synthesize their skills and insights. This product builds on information and activities from previous efforts, primarily the "Lakescaping for Wildlife and Water Quality" book, a series of 14 one-day lakescaping workshops conducted for citizens in 2000, and the establishment of numerous shoreland restoration demonstration projects. It also stems from the kitchen table conversations and water-to-the-waist plantings occurring across Minnesota by folks who care about their neighbors, both human and non-human.
All of these efforts involve the contributions of individuals too numerous to mention here, but that deserve acknowledgment and thanks. Carrol Henderson merits special recognition for his vision and leadership in advancing natural shoreland management in Minnesota. I am deeply indebted to the ongoing support of Lee Pfannmuller, Director of the Division of Ecological Services; Brian Stenquist, Assistant to the Director; and Michelle Bratager, Project Assistant. It has been a pleasure to work on this project with the caliber of professionals and citizens involved, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for the privilege. We hope that you benefit from this program and we welcome your feedback.
Sincerely,
Jan Shaw Wolff, Project Director
